Why am I running for
Carrollton City Council?

I live by the idea: Listen, Learn, Lead. I know that listening makes a huge difference. Truly, connecting with folks has been my favorite part about this process. I have been out in the city already, reaching out to a diverse variety of residents, at all levels. I’ve met with multiple members of the City Council, First Responders, City Management, and community leaders.

My vision for Carrollton is one that thrives on innovation, inclusivity, and responsible leadership. In the coming year, Council will be focusing on redoing the master plan for downtown Carrollton, parks and recreation, and preparing the Carrollton 2040 vision plan. This boils down to a simple question: What do we want our city’s character to be? It is imperative that we have folks on council who are in touch with the residents, with their boots on the ground, hearing the voices of our constituents to help keep Carrollton moving forward and to advocate for those future generations. I’m committed to talking to residents and business owners, getting their ideas, and seeing where other cities have had success.

In my career, I’ve worked with everyone: from residents, utility companies, third-party vendors, and city workers. My previous experience as an HOA Board treasurer and a Nonprofit Managing Director and Board Member gives me insight into keeping a fiscally responsible budget and the importance of advocacy for all voices in a community. We have to continue incentivizing businesses (both small and large) while utilizing those fiscally responsible practices to drive Carrollton toward a bigger, brighter, better tomorrow.

Any city should welcome growth, and Carrollton is no exception. With an aging infrastructure and limited space, we need an innovative and modern vision for redevelopment, attracting restaurants and entertainment to keep residents engaged locally. We must continue to take a proactive approach to attracting more restaurants and entertainment venues so that residents don’t need to go to The Colony, but feel excited to work and play in their own city. There’s an entire generation ready to help build this city up. And we need both residential and commercial support to achieve the brightest outcome. To do that, we need an infrastructure that works for the future. Beyond refreshing our streets and sidewalks, we can enhance our city’s spirit for recreation and alleviate some traffic by installing bike lanes where possible. We should cover more of our bus stops and protect our citizens from several weather conditions. Focusing on transit accessibility will help many diverse groups in our city and will improve inclusivity in our affordable housing.

I've always been someone who has carved their own path- but of course, have only done so because I've been inspired by those who came before me. You taught us the power of volunteerism, and I want to rise to that challenge. You taught us to stand up for others, and I’m here using my voice to represent our community. You taught us to vote, and I’m here asking you for that.
